Distance Learning - Return to In-Person Learning

The Wythe County School Board voted to return to
in-person instruction, 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday,Thursday and Friday) with a 2:00 pm dismissal every day beginning
Monday, January 25.

Wednesday will be a 100% virtual day for students.

Families who choose to stay 100% Virtual will still have this option. All safety mitigation strategies for in-person learning will remain in effect.

WCPS will follow the Governor’s Executive Order 72 which maintains the requirement that individuals must wear masks while indoors at public and private school settings unless they qualify for a health or safety exemption. Masks will also be worn outdoors when 6ft. distancing cannot be maintained. WCPS will continue to follow any new guidance or executive orders issued and update our plans accordingly.

Wythe County Public Schools would like to thank ALL of our students, staff, and the school community for their cooperation and support! Together, we can continue to provide everyone with a safe, healthy, positive, and productive learning environment.

Attendance Guidelines

The new requirements for attendance with in-person and distance learning for middle and high school begin January 25, 2020.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Students will be required to attend classes in-person and/or virtually Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

On Wednesdays, live meetings will also be offered to students.
Teachers will be available to interact with students virtually during their regularly scheduled class periods on Wednesdays.

Students will complete assignments for each class on Wednesdays as assigned by the teachers.

To be counted present, the student should complete their Wednesday assignments in each class.

If students completed their work early, they are not absent.

There may be some instances when either an in-person student and/or a distance learning student may be required to participate in live meets or even in-person on a Wednesday.

Some examples may include, but not limited to, small group instruction, individual instruction, remediation or enrichment opportunities, and assessments.

Teachers will provide advanced notice of these occasions.

Notify the School
If a student is unable to participate during Wednesdays or a particular class on Monday through Friday, the parent/guardian should notify the school.
