Fort Chiswell High School Cross Country
First 5K of the Season
The Fort Chiswell High School Cross Country team competed in its first 5K of the season, giving our runners a great opportunity to experience the distance and see where they stand early in the season.
Girls Varsity:
Hannah Benway — 34:04
Hannah completed her first 5K of the season with a strong effort and gave the team a great starting point as we continue building fitness throughout the season.
Boys Varsity:
Eli Benway — 23:57 — 1st Fort Chiswell finisher
Eli Carroll — 28:52
Laban Blanton — 34:44
Eli Benway led the Fort Chiswell boys, finishing first for the Pioneers with a time of 23:57. Incredible for his first 5k. Eli Carroll followed with a solid 28:52.
Laban Blanton had a tough race, but he showed determination and perseverance by pushing through and making it to the finish line. That kind of grit is an important part of cross country, and we are proud of his effort.
Overall, this first 5K gave the team valuable experience and a starting point to build from. We will continue working hard, improving our fitness, and supporting one another as the season progresses. Great job, Pioneers!
